Thuringia: Geratherm's turnover falls slightly, but profit increases

Geschwenda (dpa/th) - The Thuringian medical technology manufacturer Geratherm is heavily dependent on its international sales markets - the business volume suffered slightly in the first quarter. The turnover of the listed company based in Geschwenda fell in the period from January to March compared to the first quarter of 2021 by 3.7 percent to 6.4 million euros. Around 79 percent of the proceeds were generated abroad. Postponed orders from the Arab world, but also increased demand for clinical thermometers in the USA influenced the development, as can be seen from the report by the board of directors presented on Wednesday.

At the same time, Geratherm became somewhat more profitable. Earnings before interest and taxes improved by 6.1 percent to EUR 717,000. The bottom line was a profit of 507,000 euros, after 498,000 euros a year ago.

The Management Board explained that the positive development in earnings was mainly due to the development at the subsidiaries. Among other things, Geratherm manufactures clinical thermometers, sales of which rose sharply at the beginning of the corona pandemic, but have now normalized.

According to the company, the medical technology producer currently employs around 220 people. Devices for measuring vital data, for lung function diagnostics and for diagnosing cardiac arrhythmias are also manufactured.
