Erfurt (dpa/th) - With a view to the seasonal lack of blood supplies in the summer months, Thuringia's Health Minister Heike Werner (left) called for blood donations. A blood donation could save up to three people's lives, Werner said on Monday in Erfurt. However, the warmer temperatures and the approaching school holidays meant that significantly less blood was being donated.
Werner pointed out that the hospitals and clinics had returned to normal operations after the restrictions imposed by the corona pandemic and were catching up on postponed operations. The supply situation is critical. That is why it is now particularly important that as many people as possible donate blood, said the Minister, also on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day on (tomorrow) Tuesday.
