Thuringia: Hearing on transparency in social enterprise salaries

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Should managers in the Thuringian social economy disclose their salaries? The social committee of the state parliament has invited to a public hearing on Thursday (11:00 a.m.) on this topic. Among other things, the MPs want to know from representatives of welfare organizations and trade unions, but also from legal scholars, what they think of ensuring more transparency in salary payments, for example to the managing directors of companies in the industry. There had been corresponding demands in the past from both the Red-Red-Green factions and the CDU parliamentary faction.

The starting point for such considerations are, among other things, allegations against the former management of the AWO subsidiary AWO AJS. In particular, the managing director Michael Hack, who has since been fired, is accused of having collected excessive salary payments for years. In mid-May, the current chairwoman of AWO Thuringia, Petra Rottschalk, admitted that the salary affair had also caused considerable image damage to the association.
