Erfurt (dpa/th) - Thuringia's industry continues to benefit from strong price increases in terms of sales growth. Industrial companies with 50 or more employees generated revenues of around 28.2 billion euros from January to September, as reported by the State Statistical Office in Erfurt on Wednesday. That is an increase of 14.4 percent or 3.5 billion euros compared to the same period last year. Price-adjusted sales increased by only 1.7 percent.
According to the information, domestic sales grew by 2.2 billion euros or 14.4 percent (price-adjusted a minus of 0.1 percent) to 17.7 billion euros. Exports rose by 1.3 billion euros or 14.4 percent (price-adjusted plus 2.1 percent).
According to the statisticians, almost all sectors were able to increase sales. Only in the manufacture of motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts and the repair and installation of machines and equipment did sales collapse. On average, more than 142,900 people were employed in Thuringia's industry, almost 2,100 more than in the same period last year.
