Thuringia: IHK East Thuringia: Over 1100 trainees started

Gera (dpa/th) - Despite the start of training at the beginning of August, numerous apprentices are still being sought in eastern Thuringia. So far, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) East Thuringia has registered 1125 training contracts, as the chamber announced on Tuesday. "We're moving at the level of the previous year. We expect the number of entries to continue to rise," said Volker Leffer, head of specialist development at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. According to the information, there are still more than 400 free training places for 2022 in the IHK apprenticeship exchange.

So far, most training contracts have been concluded in the metalworking and electrical engineering professions. Contracts in retail, gastronomy and commercial professions follow. "The career prospects with an apprenticeship are often underestimated - even by parents. Companies already need well-trained young people to close future gaps," says Leffer.
