Apolda (dpa/th) - Even three days after the devastating fire in an apartment building in Apolda with four dead, the investigations into the statics of the house are still ongoing. "The structural engineer has not yet completed his report, as long as this is not available, our hands are tied," said a police spokesman on Wednesday morning. Accordingly, new information can be expected in the course of the day.
Due to the unclear statics, the building cannot currently be entered after the fire. Three fire victims found in the attic of the destroyed apartment building were rescued from the ruins on Monday using a turntable ladder over the roof.
According to Mayor Rüdiger Eisenbrand, the wooden stairwell of the three-storey house was destroyed in addition to the burnt roof structure. Ceilings were affected by the extinguishing work.
