Thuringia: Karawanskij for participation in the mobility of apprentices

Craft President Jörg Dittrich had called for state subsidies for apprentices' driver's licenses. Thuringia's Minister of Transport, on the other hand, sees the companies themselves as required.

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Thuringia's Minister of Infrastructure, Susanna Karawanskij (left), would like companies and craft businesses to be more involved in the mobility of their apprentices. She was responding to a demand by the President of the Central Association of German Crafts (ZDH), Jörg Dittrich, for a state subsidy for trainees who want to get their driver's license. "Instead of a demand for more state support, I would have liked a commitment and financial participation from companies and companies," she told the German Press Agency.

Dittrich had argued that companies that trained young people were fulfilling a task in the interests of society. "The best thing would be if apprentices in rural areas received a direct subsidy from the state for the cost of the driver's license," he said.

Karawanskij pointed out that there is a heavily subsidized trainee ticket in Thuringia. Semester tickets for students, which Dittrich had used for his argument, are not subsidized by the state.
