Zeulenroda-Triebes (dpa/th) - A large area of forest and fields caught fire in eastern Thuringia. According to the Gera control center, the fire went from a field near Zeulenroda-Triebes into the forest on Monday for an unknown reason and was not yet under control at noon. Fire brigades from the area were called in to extinguish the fire.
Due to the fire, there was a lot of smoke in the region near the state border with Saxony, especially around the municipality of Langenwolschendorf and Zeulenroda-Triebes. The central control center in Gera advised the population to keep the windows and doors closed and to switch off the ventilation and air conditioning systems. The area should be avoided on a large scale.
