Jena (dpa/th) - Whether herb hikes, trips to the bird of prey area or bat nights: Animal and plant lovers throughout Thuringia get their money's worth on the "Long Day of Nature" on Friday and Saturday. Nabu Thuringia and the Thuringia Nature Conservation Foundation invite you to a total of 90 events in all corners of the Free State. "We had to cancel the event twice - so we're even more happy that we can go out with the people again," said Hans Schönewolf from Nabu.
This year there will be a particularly large number of beaver hikes, and orchids will also be the focus of many events. During bat nights, those who are interested can use detectors to track the animals. In Jena, for example, an apiary can also be visited. The aim is to bring young and old closer to nature, said Schönewolf. Many of the events also take place on Saturdays.
