Finsterbergen (dpa/th) - At the last moment, several first responders rescued a man from the burning living room of his house in Finsterberge (Gotha district). The 38-year-old resident was flown to a special clinic in Halle on Sunday night with serious injuries, including burns, a police spokesman said. One of the four rescuers suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to a hospital for observation. The others suffered lacerations. Several media had previously reported.
According to the information, a fire broke out in the living room of the family home where the 38-year-old was staying late on Saturday evening for reasons that are still unclear. The four first responders forced the door open and pulled the man outside. At that point, he was no longer available, the police spokesman said. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire quickly so that the house did not burst into flames. According to initial estimates, there was damage of 100,000 euros.
