Erfurt (dpa/th) - A 38-year-old ran into the Erfurt job center with a knife in his hand. The man was under the influence of drugs when the incident occurred on Tuesday, police said on Wednesday morning. However, he was peaceful and did not threaten anyone. Several witnesses called the officers when they saw the knife in the 38-year-old's hand.
The police then surrounded the building with several patrol cars. Because the man ran onto the roof of the job center, a police helicopter was also used. According to the police, the 38-year-old was finally arrested on the roof without resistance. He was taken to a hospital for drug use. Because he had a one-handed knife, i.e. a banned weapon, he was charged with violating the Weapons Act.
