Thuringia: Metal tariff round in Thuringia starts in mid-September

Erfurt/Eisenach (dpa/th) - Collective bargaining for employees in Thuringia's metal and electrical industry is entering the first round. The start is on September 14 in Eisenach, IG Metall and the metal employers' association announced on Thursday in Erfurt.

According to the employers, more than 18,000 employees who work in companies that are subject to the collective agreement are being negotiated. However, many other companies orientate their in-house collective agreements to the conclusion that is reached during the negotiations.

The IG Metall assumes 20,000 employees, for whom negotiations are taking place. She demands eight percent more money for twelve months.

The head of the trade union district Mitte, which is also responsible for Thuringia, Jörg Köhlinger, justified the demand that employers should not duck away and would have to make their contribution to overcoming the crisis. Unlike many companies, employees cannot simply pass on their rising costs.
