Mühlhausen/Erfurt (dpa/th) - With a financial injection of 6.2 million euros from the state, the Schwanenteich area in Mühlhausen is to become more attractive for tourists and locals. The Ministry of Economics announced on Wednesday that the money was intended for the construction of a lake promenade. It is part of a project to upgrade the recreation area with additional tourist and sporting activities. The total costs amounted to almost nine million euros. is already being built. They should be completed by mid-2024.
The project is part of the urban development concept - also with a view to the upcoming 500th anniversary of the German Peasants' War in 2025 and the planned state exhibition in Mühlhausen. The aim is to open up new target groups in tourism.
