Erfurt (dpa/th) - There will be a special regulation from October for employees in the Thuringian healthcare system with two proven corona vaccinations. They would still be considered fully vaccinated - even if they did not have a booster vaccination, the Ministry of Health announced in Erfurt on Tuesday. A corresponding decree goes to the municipal health authorities.
Thuringia is thus taking a similar path to Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, for example. The background is that according to the Federal Infection Protection Act from October 1st, only people will be considered fully vaccinated against corona if they can prove three vaccinations with a vaccine approved in the EU.
The ministry explained that the legally required facility-related vaccination obligation will continue to exist in Thuringia. It has been the subject of heated debate for months, and fines can be imposed for non-compliance. Thuringia had therefore not approved the new federal infection protection law in the Bundesrat.
According to the ministry, 1,260 fine procedures have been issued in Thuringia so far, but neither entry nor employment bans have been issued for employees in the health sector who have not complied with the obligation to vaccinate.
