Erfurt (dpa/th) - In Thuringia, more and more men are working in childcare. Within the last ten years, the number has almost tripled from 403 to 1036, said the State Office for Statistics in Erfurt on Tuesday. This means that every 16th employee in this area is a man. A total of 18,633 women and men were working in day-care centers in Bavaria as of March 1st.
Also as of March 1, 2022, according to the statisticians, 91,805 children under the age of 14 attended one of the 1,342 day-care centers in Thuringia or were looked after by the 240 childminders. That was 1325 children or 1.4 percent fewer than a year earlier.
