Thuringia: More online applications for aid from state employees

Erfurt (dpa/th) - More and more Thuringian state employees are submitting their applications for grants online, for example in the event of illness. By the deadline of June 30 this year, 22,178 digital applications for these so-called aids had been received by the responsible office in Gera, the Ministry of Finance announced on Thursday in Erfurt. This is six percentage points more than in the previous year.

State Secretary Hartmut Schubert explained that the service introduced in July 2020 is becoming increasingly popular. In July 2020 only 702 applications for aid were received online, in November 2021 there were already 3418 and in January 2022 there were already 4337. According to this information, 34,245 online applications were submitted to the aid office throughout 2021. Of a total of 143,215 applications for aid for the approximately 45,000 Thuringian civil servants, judges and pension recipients, around one in four was an online application.

In certain cases, certain state employees receive financial support from the Free State. The state thus contributes to the costs of illness, care and childbirth. Employees' family members may also be entitled to benefits.
