Plaue/Gotha (dpa/th) - An overtaking motorist collided with a young motorcyclist in oncoming traffic in the Ilm district and fatally injured her. The 44-year-old driver had started on Tuesday morning on the country road between Plaue and Liebenstein to overtake two vehicles, the police said. The man disregarded the oncoming motorcycle, it came to a head-on collision. The 17-year-old died at the scene of the accident and the driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
According to the police, the family of the dead and the emergency services are being looked after by a crisis intervention team and emergency pastoral care. The property damage was estimated by the police at around 20,000 euros. The road was temporarily closed due to the accident investigation, in which a drone was also used.
