Erfurt (dpa/th) - In Thuringia, help from neighbors or volunteers for people in need of care living at home can in future be financed to a certain extent from benefits from the care insurance funds. You can use the so-called relief amount of 125 euros per month, as Minister of Social Affairs Heike Werner (left) announced on Tuesday in Erfurt. People in home care are entitled to this amount. The money is intended for services that enable those in need of care to live independently at home for as long as possible.
On Tuesday, the cabinet dealt with the amendment to the state ordinance on everyday assistance for those in need of care. According to figures from the State Statistical Office of December 2021, there are at least 167,000 people in need of care in Thuringia, of whom more than 86,000 are cared for exclusively by relatives, friends or acquaintances.
