Thuringia: New state parent representative for Thuringian schools elected

Friedrichroda (dpa/th) - The interests of the parents of school children in Thuringia will be represented in future by a new state parent spokeswoman. At the State Parents' Day in Friedrichroda on Saturday, Claudia Koch from Ilmenau was elected joint spokeswoman for the voluntary parents' representatives of all types of schools, as a spokesman for the state parents' representatives announced. Koch, who works as a translator, was previously the deputy to Roul Rommeiss, the long-standing state parent spokesman, who was not able to run again after 14 years in office. His children are now out of school.

Koch, who was also responsible for the public relations work of the parent representatives, was elected for a two-year term. The individual types of schools in Thuringia - elementary schools, regular schools, comprehensive schools, community schools, special needs schools, vocational schools and high schools - each have their own state spokesman. In the current school year, more than 251,000 children and young people are attending the 967 general and vocational schools in Bavaria.
