Erfurt/Halle (dpa/th) - In Thuringia there are around 6100 vacancies for apprenticeships shortly before the start of the new training year. That is 600 more than a year ago, as the regional directorate of Saxony-Anhalt-Thuringia announced to the Federal Employment Agency on Friday. Apprentices are particularly sought after in production and manufacturing occupations. In July, 2100 applicants had not yet found a training position. In purely mathematical terms, there are currently almost three vacancies for every person without an apprenticeship contract.
There are good chances of an apprenticeship, for example, in the fields of metal and welding technology, energy technology as well as in sales and in the construction industry. The new training year begins on Monday in many sectors. Entry is usually possible later, according to the regional directorate. Employers and providers had reported around 12,400 in-company and external training places to the employment agencies in the state since October 2021, 800 more than in 2020.
