Neudientendorf (dpa/th) - Free welfare sees the social economy disregarded in the federal government's new planned relief package. Without direct support from the federal, state and local authorities, counseling services or facilities would be closed, said the state manager of the Thuringia Parity Welfare Association, Stefan Werner, on Friday. "The social infrastructure of kindergartens, debt counseling, self-help, youth welfare, nursing homes or workshops for people with disabilities is acutely endangered."
There is no reserve here to fall back on. "We need a relief package tailored to the social economy," Werner demanded. Inflation increases the cost of the facilities, while at the same time the demand for the services of the social economy increases.
In contrast to companies in the private sector, non-profit institutions in the fields of care, integration or youth welfare cannot simply raise prices or cut services. From the point of view of the association, a rescue package is needed as a first step, as in the corona crisis. In the second step, the sum that the carriers receive per client must be renegotiated with the nursing care funds and municipalities.
