Thuringia: Parliament debates state aid in the energy crisis

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Thuringia's state parliament is discussing possible state aid in the millions for citizens and the economy in the energy crisis in Erfurt today. The red-red-green minority coalition has submitted a draft law to Parliament. He plans to expand the country's Corona fund to include help for families and businesses that are in need due to high energy prices. According to the Left, SPD and Greens, 60 million could be made available in the short term. Ten million euros are intended to prevent energy poverty, especially among families with children.

For a change in the law on the so-called Corona special fund, however, red-red-green needs the support of the opposition. The coalition lacks four votes for its own majority in the state parliament. Representatives of the opposition from the CDU, AfD, FDP and citizens for Thuringia have so far expressed reservations about the proposal. The CDU parliamentary group has made its own proposals, including for an economic security fund of 250 to 400 million euros.
