Mühlhausen (dpa/th) - After around 30 days of negotiations, the first pleas before the district court in Mühlhausen are expected in the trial for the attack on two journalists on Thursday (10 a.m.). According to a court spokesman, both the public prosecutor's office and the co-plaintiffs should hold their closing speeches. An appointment planned a few days ago had been postponed due to illness. The plea of the defense and later the verdict are so far scheduled for the beginning of September.
The two defendants from the right-wing extremist scene are accused of attacking two journalists in Fretterode in northern Thuringia in April 2018. They were badly injured in the attack. The defendants had partially admitted the crime at the start of the trial in September 2021. According to their own statements, they want to have acted in a kind of self-defense.
