Thuringia: Police prevent right-wing rock concert in Sonneberg

Sonneberg (dpa/th) - The police stopped a right-wing rock concert in Sonneberg on Saturday. It should - disguised as a birthday party for a 54-year-old - take place on private property, the police said on Sunday. Police officers then checked the access roads to Sonneberg. A man wanted with an arrest warrant was discovered at a checkpoint and then taken to a detention center.

All people who were already in the vicinity of the planned meeting place were given a place reference. According to the police, the 54-year-old then wanted to move his concert to a restaurant. He was also forbidden from doing so, it said. The short-term attempt by a singer-songwriter to perform outside the restaurant was also prevented and his guitar and harmonica were seized.

Several reports were filed, including against the organizer and the innkeeper. When music came from the restaurant around midnight, a man coming out of the restaurant insulted the local officials and massively attacked them. He was then taken into custody but has since been released. According to the information, a total of 24 people from the right spectrum were identified. Later, the police were able to prevent an attack by five of the event participants on three passers-by.
