Erfurt (dpa/th) - In her Christmas speech, the President of the State Parliament, Birgit Pommer, described 2022 as a year of uncertainty that demanded a lot from Thuringia. "My thanks go to everyone who keeps this country going and makes sure that we live in peace with each other, no matter where we come from, no matter what we believe in, no matter who we love," said Pommer.
She emphasized the strength of democracy and the Thuringian constitution, which will be in force for 30 years next year. "It is crucial that we treat each other with respect, speak our minds without fear of reprisals, even on the street, peacefully and without violence." According to the state parliament administration, the Christmas speech by the president of the state parliament will be broadcast on MDR Thuringia on Friday evening.
