Thuringia: prosecution: employee is said to have set fire to the theater

Meiningen/Eisenach (dpa/th) - The public prosecutor's office in Meiningen has accused a woman of four counts of arson in the Eisenach theater. The woman was an employee of the theater at the time of the fire, the spokesman for the prosecutor said on Thursday. The fires, which were set between August 2018 and September 2020, caused estimated damage of around 600,000 euros.

The indictment accuses the woman of first setting a fire in the workshops of the Landestheater in August 2018. In May 2020, she is said to have set fire to chairs in the house and in July lit a fire on the theater's rehearsal stage. After all, she is said to be responsible for the fact that a fire broke out on the lower stage at the end of September 2020, which penetrated the main stage and the auditorium.

The indictment was served on the district court in Eisenach. There is no trial date yet.
