Thuringia: "Repair bonus 2.0" for electrical appliances starts on Tuesday

Erfurt (dpa/th) - The repair of electrical appliances will be funded again in Thuringia from Tuesday. As part of the "Reparaturbonus 2.0" program, consumers can be reimbursed for up to half of the repair costs, but no more than 100 euros per year, as the Ministry of the Environment and the consumer advice center announced on Monday. After the success of the "Repair Bonus 1.0" two innovations are introduced: The repairs can also be commissioned in so-called repair cafés; the applications for the bonus are now submitted online to the consumer advice center in Thuringia.

In the repair cafés and initiatives, consumers can carry out repairs themselves. The bonus here is not on the repair service itself, which is usually carried out together with volunteers. Rather, the purchase of the necessary spare part is subsidized with 50 percent of the invoice amount. You usually have to buy the spare part yourself and bring it to the repair café. Because the costs for the required spare parts are often low, the minimum invoice amount was set at 25 euros.

For repairs in workshops, electronics stores or customer services, however, the gross invoice amount must be at least 50 euros in order to receive the bonus. The maximum amount for reimbursement is 100 euros per adult consumer and year. The funding program has a volume of 600,000 euros.
