Erfurt (dpa/th) - According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the corona incidence in Thuringia was 80.7 on Thursday morning. This emerges from figures that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 3:10 a.m. This means that the Free State is still the federal state with the fewest reported weekly new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. Nationwide, the incidence was 221.4 as of Thursday.
However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - due to overworked health authorities and because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
The health authorities in Thuringia recently reported 447 new infections to the RKI within one day. Another death was registered. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 710,734 corona infections and 7291 deaths have been recorded in Thuringia.
