Thuringia: Search for a compromise for the Thuringian state budget for 2023

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Before the 2023 state budget threatens to fail, a return to the negotiating table will be attempted in Erfurt on Wednesday. The opposition CDU parliamentary group wants to decide on conditions for talks with the red-red-green minority coalition in the morning. According to her and the State Chancellery, a conversation between CDU parliamentary group leader Mario Voigt and Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) is also planned. According to the State Chancellery, Finance Minister Heike Taubert (SPD) will also be there.

For the afternoon, the leaders of the Left, SPD and Greens have invited Voigt and other representatives of the largest opposition faction to a meeting to prevent an impending budgetary chaos in Thuringia and to discuss further parliamentary action. Group leader Voigt insisted in advance on fundamental budget changes. His parliamentary group is concerned with crisis prevention, better financing for local authorities, investments in the future, and the country's reserves should be used far less than the government plans.

Ramelow's red-red-green coalition does not have its own majority in the state parliament in Erfurt - it is missing four votes. It is therefore dependent on the support of the opposition in order to decide on the state budget for 2023.
