Thuringia: Seven pigs died in an animal transport accident

Remptendorf/Saalfeld (dpa/th) - An animal transporter loaded with pigs overturned on the country road near Remptendorf (Saale-Orla district). Seven animals died. The others were recovered and reloaded, as the police in Saalfeld announced on Wednesday. The truck went off the road on Tuesday afternoon for reasons that are still unclear. The vehicle suffered property damage of around 8,000 euros. The road was closed for several hours. The exact cause of the accident has yet to be clarified.
