Thuringia: Siegesmund wants shorter approval procedures

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Energy Minister Anja Siegesmund (Greens) wants shorter approval procedures when companies change their energy source. The ministry announced on Friday in Erfurt that it was about accelerated procedures in immission control. The law has so far provided for a procedure to last up to seven months. "The new regulation enables approval after a few weeks."

According to the ministry, many companies are looking for energy alternatives in view of the high gas prices and concerns about the security of supply. The bureaucracy involved in converting systems would be reduced to an "absolute minimum," Siegesmund promised.

Above all, energy supply companies such as municipal utilities and energy-intensive sectors of the economy would benefit from the simplification of official procedures. Two information events by the Ministry of Energy are planned on the specific regulations.
