Erfurt/Leipzig (dpa/th) - According to the German Weather Service, the snowfalls of the past few days have brought snow cover between 10 and 20 centimeters to Thuringia. In eastern and central Thuringia, the snow depth reached 20 centimeters, as a spokesman for the German Weather Service (DWD) said on Saturday. It was a little less in northern and southern Thuringia. For winter fun with snow walks, however, one thing was missing on Saturday: sunshine. It was cloudy and foggy across the country.

In the Thuringian Forest, for example, this hardly attracted people to the hiking trails that were still covered with thin snow, as webcam images from the Rennsteig showed. "It also remains cloudy," said the DWD spokesman. In the next few days, instead of more snowfall, rain or drizzle at temperatures of up to five degrees Celsius is to be expected.
