Thuringia: Taubert: Lotto Thuringia is a stroke of luck for the Free State

Weimar/Suhl (dpa/th) - According to its own statements, Lotto Thüringen has so far supported the common good in the Free State with more than 1.5 billion euros. This would have enabled a large number of projects to be implemented, for example in competitive and popular sports, culture, monument protection and welfare. This was emphasized by the managing director of the state lottery provider based in Suhl, Jochen Sttaschewski, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Lotto Thüringen.

"We sell dreams and moments of happiness and have been doing so for three decades," said Sttaschewski. So far, more than 1.9 billion euros have been paid out to Thuringian game participants. Among the lucky ones are 84 millionaires, whose profit contributions add up to a total of around 170 million euros. According to the information, the highest win in Thuringia to date was achieved in June 2020 with around 32.5 million euros in the classic LOTTO 6 out of 49.

Finance Minister Heike Taubert (SPD) said at the anniversary event in Weimar that Lotto Thüringen was a real stroke of luck for the Free State. Thanks to immense financial contributions, state gambling has the effect that Thuringia is and can remain sporty, unmistakably green and, last but not least, rich in cultural treasures. According to the information, one of the largest recipients of funding is the state sports association with more than 9.5 million euros annually.

According to Lotto Thüringen, it has almost 700 acceptance points. 83 percent of the proceeds are generated there. The annual turnover is currently around 713 million euros.
