Thuringia: "Tetsche - hilarious": cartoonist exhibits in Greiz

Two chickens stand in front of a fried chicken on the beach. Says one: "And I'll say: cream yourself!" Absurd humor like this can be seen in Greiz from Saturday - by one of the most well-known German cartoonists.

Greiz (dpa/th) - Absurd humor and interesting drawings: around 100 works by one of Germany's best-known cartoonists can be seen in Greiz from Saturday. Under the title "Tetsche - saukomisch" the exhibition of the former star cartoonist Tetsche will be opened in the summer palace in the East Thuringian city. In addition to cartoons from several creative decades, original design drawings can also be seen there.

Tetsche published a cartoon in "Stern" magazine every week for four decades until the end of 2018, thus reaching a wide audience. He usually avoids major political issues. Instead, he prefers to devote himself to the ambiguity of the German language, small idioms or surprises in the visual language. Little things worthy of discovery are always hidden in his otherwise clearly structured drawings.

And the humor behind it? Mostly absurd. As in the scene on the beach when two chickens stand in front of a roast chicken lying on a beach towel. "And I'll say: Apply sunscreen!" said one of the two fresh animals and rolled his eyes.

Visitors to the exhibition have the opportunity to write their own text for a Tetsche cartoon. Three book packages with cartoon volumes will be raffled among the participants. There will also be special offers for children during the summer holidays.
