Clingen (dpa/th) - Unknown persons stole seven puppies and their mother from a gate in a garden plot in Clingen (Kyffhäuserkreis). The puppies are only three days old and still need intensive care, the police said on Monday. The theft happened on Sunday.
The dogs belong to the Pyrenean mountain dogs. The breed is one of the so-called livestock guard dogs. Farmers use the large and powerful animals to protect their sheep against wolves, for example. Breeders can charge several hundred euros for such pedigree dogs.
