Thuringia: Thuringia continues with the lowest corona incidence

Erfurt (dpa/th) - The Thuringian corona incidence is still well below the national average. The number of new infections per week per 100,000 inhabitants was 298.9 on Thursday, as reported by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). In the previous week, the value was 259.5. Thuringia has been the state with the lowest seven-day incidence for weeks. Across Germany, the incidence on Thursday was 690.6 (previous week: 668.6).

However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

Since the outbreak of the corona pandemic, 733,436 infections and 7377 deaths related to the corona virus have been registered in Thuringia. The last time there were 23 corona patients in the Thuringian intensive care units - at the peak of the delta wave in December 2021, the value was over 200.
