Thuringia: Thuringia with the lowest incidence: Corona tests cost money

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Thuringia remains the federal state with the lowest reported corona incidence - but the numbers are also increasing in the Free State. The number of new infections per week per 100,000 inhabitants was 259.5, as the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Thursday. In the previous week, the value was 202.1. Nationwide, the incidence was 668.6 as of Thursday.

The Thuringian Ministry of Health pointed out that the number of PCR tests in the state had fallen sharply since the end of March. The infection rate has increased in all age groups, except for children up to five years of age, the ministry wrote in its Corona weekly report. Especially in children of school age, the incidences have increased again, after the numbers had previously risen only slightly.

In Thuringia, like in other federal states, the free citizen tests at test centers or in pharmacies have been eliminated since Thursday. The quick tests are only free for certain risk groups - but as a rule, three euros are due out of pocket from this Thursday onwards.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI in Thuringia has counted 726,470 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected or are not included in the statistics. 7358 people have died in Bavaria since the outbreak of the pandemic. The last time there were 22 corona patients in the Thuringian intensive care units - at the peak of the delta wave in December 2021, the value was over 200.
