Erfurt (dpa/th) - Environmental projects in Thuringia can apply for prize money totaling 10,000 euros. The call for applications for the Thuringian Environment Prize 2023 will run until May 14, the Ministry of the Environment in Erfurt announced. The motto of the competition this year is "Share resources - live well instead of consuming a lot", it's about careful use of energy, water and soil, as Environment Minister Bernhard Stengele (Greens) explained.
This year, awards will be given to ideas, projects or initiatives that conserve resources through shared use or production. As possible examples, Stengele named community energy projects or initiatives for solidarity agriculture, loan models or neighborhood cooperation.
According to the ministry, the main prize is endowed with at least 5,000 euros, and there is also a special prize. A jury makes the decisions. Individual applicants, groups, but also companies, clubs and associations, citizens' initiatives, municipalities and municipal partnerships could compete for the prize.
