Thuringia: Time between building permit and moving in is extended

Erfurt (dpa/th) - In the Corona year 2021, the time between the granting of a building permit and the completion of residential properties has increased slightly in Thuringia. Compared to the previous year, the average processing time has increased by one to 20 months, said the Thuringian State Office for Statistics on Wednesday in Erfurt. A total of 1734 new residential buildings with 3380 apartments were completed in Bavaria.

According to the statisticians, there were differences in the individual building types, as in previous years. The newly completed 1,546 single-family homes were ready for occupancy after an average of 19 months, one month later than in the previous year. For 1.7 percent of the houses, it only took up to six months and 25.7 percent could be occupied after about a year. 51 percent were completed between one and two years. For the remaining 21.5 percent, it took more than two years.

Single-family houses built using prefabricated elements were ready to move into after an average of 16 months, and buildings using conventional methods after 20 months.

The developers of the 72 two-family houses completed in 2021 had to wait an average of 25 months before moving into the 144 apartments built in them (2020: 28 months). In the case of the 1,681 apartments in 115 multi-family houses, which have a higher construction cost, it took an average of 27 months to complete the occupancy (2020: 25 months).
