Thuringia: Tobogganing is still possible in Thuringia at the end of the winter holidays

Gehlberg (dpa/th) - Plus degrees and rain have added to the snow cover in the Thuringian Forest and the winter sports conditions have deteriorated significantly. Cross-country skiing is no longer possible at the end of the winter holidays. The Thuringian Forest regional association announced that there were still four toboggan slopes and six lifts in operation on Saturday. In some places in the upper parts of the low mountain range there is still up to 35 centimeters of snow, but in the majority of winter sports resorts it is significantly less.

In Thuringia's most important winter sports resort Oberhof, where the Biathlon World Championships started their last weekend, the snow cover is only 13 centimeters on average. In Gehlberg it was 16 centimeters, in Masserberg 11 and in Neuhaus am Rennweg 14 centimetres.
