Thuringia: Winter sports in the Thuringian Forest only on artificial snow slopes

Suhl (dpa/th) - Even when the natural snow has melted away, winter sports enthusiasts can still be active in the Thuringian Forest. As the Thuringian Forest regional association announced on Thursday, alpine skiing is possible in the lifts in the Silbersattel Steinach ski arena and on the Fallbachhang in Oberhof, which are also covered with artificial snow. In the facility in Steinbach there is a 25 centimeter thick layer of snow.

However, there is nothing to do with tobogganing, snow tubing or cross-country skiing in the ridges - unless cross-country fans use the indoor ski area in Oberhof. Ice skating is possible in the Ilmenau, Sonneberg and Waltershausen ice rinks. At the turn of the year it should be mild and stormy.
