Thuringia: "Woisinge ahoi": carnival parade in Wasungen

Wasungen (dpa/th) - After two years of the Corona compulsory break for carnival parades, Thuringia is facing a crazy weekend with dozens of parades and hundreds of ceremonial sessions. At the nationally best-known carnival procession in Wasungen, almost 2,000 active people will move through the city in southern Thuringia on Saturday (2:11 p.m.) under the motto "Mie could's ümmer nooch" ("We can still do it"). According to the Wasunger Carneval Club, onlookers get to see about 100 pictures, five bands contribute mood music. In Wasungen, where the 487th street carnival is being celebrated this year, the jesters traditionally greet each other with "Woisinge Ahoi".

Carnival parades are also to move through numerous other Thuringian towns on Saturday. The weekend before Shrove Monday is traditionally the highlight of the "fifth season" in Thuringia.
