Thuringia: women's pilgrimage: around 600 participants

Dingelstädt (dpa/th) - According to official information, almost 600 Catholics came to the traditional women's pilgrimage to the Kerbschen Berg near Dingelstädt. A spokeswoman for the organizing diocese of Erfurt said on Sunday that the number of participants had not yet climbed back to an old level after limited pilgrimages in the past two pandemic years. But everyone present would have been happy to be there again in the usual setting with hymnal, chair and picnic basket. This year's pilgrimage in the district of Eichsfeld had the motto "Defy it!".

In 1961, women made the first joint pilgrimage to the Kerbschen Berg. In the time before the pandemic, up to 2000 Catholic women made their way to the former Franciscan monastery as part of the pilgrimage.

On Ascension Day, thousands of believers had previously taken part in the traditional men's pilgrimage to Klueschen Hagis in Eichsfeld.
