TikTok proposal fails: The search for the ring that was lost at Watton lake is futile

A groom-to-be said that he was unable to locate an engagement ring that had been accidentally dropped in a lake by thousands of TikTok users during a proposal.

When Ross Bamber proposed, footage of the moment was viewed millions of times.

He stated that divers spent two hours searching for it but couldn't find it.

He said, "I think it'll be left as buried treasure."

Gerii Ashforth, 26, had intended to surprise Gerii at sunset while taking a break by Watton's lake.

He claimed that he had set up the camera to capture the moment. But instead of recording the special moment, the camera recorded the jewellery "bouncing along decking before it came to rest upon the boards." "Then it literally plopped down."

The couple from Costessey, near Norwich, uploaded videos to TikTok that have been viewed millions of times. They joked at the same time that they might have to hire a scuba diver.

Mr Bamber decided that he would enlist the assistance of Alex Gibb, a qualified diver, and Dylan, his son, to find the ring. However, despite using metal detectors in a two-hour dive and torch, they failed to locate the ring.

Katie Gibb, Mr Gibb's spouse, said that they tried it and were disappointed.

She stated that it was "a fish-lake full of algae, they couldn't see in front their faces", and added that she believed the ring was "just lost somewhere in the stones".

To complete his proposal, Mr Bamber had to purchase a replacement ring.

He said, "It is what is,"

"If anyone can find it, good luck!"
