The route covers 192.9 kilometers and is almost entirely within Swiss territory. It passes through three cantons: Valais, Fribourg, and Vaud. 8 km from the finish is the border at the Pas de Morgins' 1377 meter elevation.

The race starts near the International Cycling Union's headquarters (UCI). It then runs along Lake Geneva, passing through Gruyere to reach the Col des Mosses (2nd classification) and the Col de la Croix (1st category), a steeper climb at 7.6%.

To tackle the Pas de Morgins climb (15.4 km at 6.1%), the Tour route again passes through Aigle.

"A breakaway composed of good climbers has every opportunity of going all the way," predicts race director Thierry Guvenou. This stage involves a descent into Abondance valley and a four-kilometer climb above Chatel. Who will win Sunday's race after Wout van Aert's victory in Lausanne on Saturday?

The Tour arrives in Haute-Savoie (1,200 habitants) for the second time in their history. This is 47 years after Lucien Van Impe's time trial success.
