This weekend will mark the official beginning of school holidays in France. There will be many long-distance travels on the main roads throughout the country. Major southbound and coastal roads will see heavy traffic.
Saturday will see the worst traffic jams in the Rhone valley, particularly on the A7 motorway. Traffic will be dense in Ile-de-France towards the A6/A10 motorway toll gates from the beginning of the morning. Traffic problems may also be experienced on the A13 motorway at mid-morning. These problems could last until mid-afternoon.
The situation on the whole road network will improve Sunday. However, there will be difficulties on the A7 motorway through the Rhone Valley in North-South.
The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion anticipates twelve red days and one dark day during this summer. A peak of 934 km traffic jams was reached for the Ascension Bridge return at the end May. This day is classified as black at national level.
