Transportation. For holiday departures, traffic will be challenging on the roads this weekend

According to Bison Fute traffic will be heavy this Friday and Saturday as school holidays officially begin, particularly in the south and coastal areas.

The direction of departures classifies Friday as orange at the national and red in Ile-de-France in particular. Saturday is red at the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes and black at the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes regions.

Bison Fute explains that traffic conditions will be difficult this Friday in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes and Ile-de-France regions. The public road information service states that "the difficulties will be exacerbated in the middle of afternoon around major cities by work-home journeys or weekend departures, which is numerous at this point", and that traffic will continue to be heavy in the direction where departures are until late in evening.

On Saturday, the biggest delays are expected in the direction of departures across the territory, particularly on the A7 motorway through the Rhone valley. Bison Smart says that traffic in Ile-de-France will be dense at the toll gates for the A6 (towards South) and A10(towards Aquitaine, and the West) motorways starting at the beginning of the morning.

Traffic problems may occur on the A13 motorway from mid-morning. These problems could persist until the mid-afternoon. On Sunday, the situation will be more calm on the whole road network. However, difficulties will continue on the A7 motorway through the Rhone Valley in North-South direction.

The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion anticipates twelve red days and one dark day during this summer. A peak of 934 km traffic jams was reached for the Ascension Bridge return at the end May. This day is classified as black at national level.
