Two years after his death: First Emmy nomination for Chadwick Boseman

Chadwick Boseman was one of the most successful actors of the 2010s - and died far too early. Two years after his death, Boseman has now been nominated for an Emmy for the first time - in the voice-over category. He lent his voice to an animation character all too familiar to his fans.

The nominations for the 74th Emmy Awards are here: Almost two years after his death, the late Chadwick Boseman (1976-2020) was nominated for the TV award for the first time - for the best voice-over performance. Boseman reprized his role as T'Challa in the "What If...?" animated series set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), which he also portrayed in "Black Panther." He lent his voice to T'Challa in the animated series.

In addition to Boseman, the category includes F. Murray Abraham ("Moon Knight"), Julie Andrews ("Bridgerton"), Maya Rudolph ("Big Mouth"), Stanley Tucci ("Central Park"), Jessica Walter ("Archer") and Jeffrey Wright ("What If...?") nominated.

Boseman is best known for his role in the Marvel action Black Panther. He passed away in August 2020 at the age of just 43 after a long battle with colon cancer. In 2021, he received posthumous Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards, among others, for his role in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. He was also nominated for an Oscar at the time.

In addition to Boseman, numerous other stars have been nominated for an Emmy for the first time - including Elle Fanning ("The Great"), Andrew Garfield ("Under the Banner of Heaven") and Oscar Isaac ("Scenes From A Marriage"). Even former US President Barack Obama can hope for an award. He has been nominated for best narrator for the documentary series "Our Wonderful National Parks". Obama has to assert himself against Sir David Attenborough ("The Mating Game") and Lupita Nyong'o ("Serengeti II"), among others. The 74th Emmy Awards will take place on September 12th.
