Ukraine: Human rights officer in Ukraine is fired by parliament because he has not produced results

Lyudmyla denisova, the Ukrainian parliament's human rights officer, was fired Tuesday by the presidential party. She was accused of not having done anything to arrange evacuations of civilians or prisoner swaps. Denisova was a member the opposition Popular Front party who was appointed to this post in March 2018.

Pavlo Frolov (a deputy of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s party) criticized Denisova's publication of "many details about sexual crimes and child-rape" in the occupied territory that she "couldn't prove", which he claimed diverted international media attention away from Ukraine's "real need". She also claimed that she spent a lot time in Western Europe after the Russian invasion, and not in Russia or Belarus where her status could have helped prisoners of war or deported people.

Denissova also had problems with the International Committee of the Red Cross, which supervised the delicate evacuations of Mariupol's martyr city. She publicly suspects of complicity in Russia.

According to the ruling party it is Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister, who manages the humanitarian corridors as well as prisoner exchange files. These are also under Denisova's responsibility.

President Zelensky dismissed officials who, he claims, were not capable of performing in the midst war with Russia. He fired Kharkiv’s security chief, who "thought only about himself", while other law enforcement agencies, and the regional administration, are doing all they can to win. .

Zelensky recalls the Ukrainian ambassadors in Morocco and Georgia at the end of March. He believes they are not efficient enough to acquire weapons or sanctions against Russia in these countries.
