Regional officials claim that Russian missile and rocket attacks have caused more widespread damage to towns and cities in eastern and southern Ukraine.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, the local governor, stated that four civilians were killed in a strike against Siversk in Donetsk.

In the same area, civil areas in Druzhkivka were also affected. A large crater was also found nearby.

The BBC could not verify the details of the most recent strikes.

The Russian ground forces have not made any significant progress in the last 24 hours in their attempt to seize the remainder of Donetsk.

Ukrainian officials also reported Russian missile attacks on parts of Kharkiv (in the north), Mykolaiv (in the south), and Kryvyi Rih (a southern city, north-east from Mykolaiv).

Ukrainian forces are fighting to defend Mykolaiv. This strategic river port is on the main route to Odesa which is Ukraine's largest export hub. Russia's navy continues to block Ukraine from shipping grain out Odesa.

Iryna Vereshchuk, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minster, has asked residents to flee Russian-occupied areas of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. This warning seemed to signal further Ukrainian counter-attacks.

While the Russians have taken over Kherson, some areas of the region were retaken by Ukrainian forces.

Russia is being accused by the police in the region of intentionally destroying crops. They posted photos on Facebook of burned fields. Russian troops are also accused of setting fire to granaries and other agricultural equipment and preventing locals extinguishing the flames.

According to Valentyn Reznichenko, the local governor, Russian Grad rockets were used in Kryvyi Rih to destroy a school and housing. The incident resulted in the death of a 41-year old woman.

Russia's defense ministry announced that its forces destroyed a hangar housing US M777 howitzers near Kramatorsk. Russia's next major targets are likely to be the cities of Slovyansk, Kramatorsk, and Donetsk.

The US claims it will supply four additional high-precision rocket systems for Ukraine. The HIMARS rockets have been used by President Volodymyr Zilensky to strike ammunition depots and warehouses on Russian-held territory. This makes Moscow's efforts at resupply more difficult.

According to the UK government, British Army bases in the UK are being used to train Ukrainians for combat training. The goal is to train as many as 10,000 Ukrainians in the next months.

The UK military has released a new intelligence update claiming that Russia is shifting its reserve forces across the country to positions near Ukraine in preparation for future operations. It says that many Russian reinforcements are "ad-hoc groups, deploying with outdated or inappropriate equipment".
